The project is being guided by a community-led committee in collaboration with Vermont Integrated Architecture, P.C., preservation specialists, and regional and local stakeholders. Together, we are shaping a thoughtful plan that balances historical authenticity, modern accessibility, and long-term sustainability.

The next phase includes Phase One construction, which will focus on critical exterior and first-floor renovations, including roof, cupola, and foundation repairs, as well as the restoration of the historic courtroom. Simultaneously, designs for Phase Two interior meeting rooms will continue to develop, ensuring the Courthouse remains sustainable and functional for the future.

Once revitalized, the Courthouse will become a multi-purpose community space—hosting public meetings, cultural events, lectures, exhibitions, and gatherings. It will also include offices and meeting rooms for local nonprofits and service organizations, supporting collaboration and community engagement.

Funding comes through a combination of private donations, grants, and community fundraising efforts. The ongoing capital campaign invites individuals, families, and organizations to play a direct role in preserving and revitalizing this piece of local history.

One of Manchester’s most revered landmarks and tourist attractions, Hildene, was built by part time resident President Abraham Lincoln’s son Robert. Today much of its restoration is supported by tourists and part time residents to the area who appreciate its historic value).
